Buttock augmentation in Madrid
Buttock augmentation in Madrid goes by many names: gluteoplasty, gluteal lipofilling, BBL. Behind them lie an operation and a few decisions worth taking calmly, and this page deals mainly with the practical side: when surgery makes sense, how to organise your return home and getting around Madrid, and what a quote should include. At Clínica EGOS we work with surgery, using fat from your own body.

We hold consultations at three clinics in Madrid city (Chamberí, Retiro and Castellana) and at two more in the Community of Madrid, Alcobendas and Móstoles.
What is buttock augmentation, and what is lipofilling?
Buttock augmentation means changing the volume, shape and projection of this area with an operation. Buttock lipofilling and BBL, short for Brazilian butt lift, are two names for the same technique, fat transfer (lipotransfer): fat is taken from other areas with liposuction and placed in the buttocks. Injectable fillers are something else and do not involve an operating theatre.
Nor should augmentation be confused with liposculpture, which removes fat to define the silhouette: that is liposuction, and we explain the technique on our liposuction page. The buttock implant is a different technique, which we do not cover here.
Which technique suits you? Four common situations
There is no best technique in the abstract, but there are situations in which the change that is possible differs.
You have areas with fat and want a moderate change
This is the case in which lipofilling works best: it makes use of what you already have and, along the way, shapes the areas where there is excess fat. People who arrive with fat on the abdomen, flanks or thighs that does not respond to exercise are usually in this group, and the surgeon assesses where it is best to take it from so that the silhouette ends up in proportion.
You are slim and want more volume
If there is not enough fat to graft, the change that is possible is limited, and the surgeon tells you frankly after examining you. It is better to know before deciding than to find out afterwards, which is why at that first visit you are measured, pinched and an estimate is made of how much could be taken from each area.
You have little volume and some sagging
The graft adds volume but does not remove excess skin. When both are present at once, the surgeon assesses whether a lift is needed as well.
You are torn between several
This is the most common situation. The consultation lets you see each alternative with your own body in front of you, with its advantages and its limits, and leave without any obligation to decide that day.
What the consultation before buttock augmentation in Madrid is like
At the consultation, the surgeon listens to you, reviews your history, the medication you take and any previous surgeries, measures you and takes photographs of the area for your file. They also assess where there is fat to take.
Tell the surgeon how long you spend sitting and how much you drive: in Madrid that is what most shapes how to organise your recovery.
When it is wise to wait
There are times when the prudent thing is not to operate yet: an upcoming pregnancy, weight loss under way, smoking or an illness that affects healing. And if your weight changes a great deal, the result will change with it, especially if fat has been used.
How is buttock augmentation done?
The operation takes place in an operating theatre under anaesthetic. The surgeon decides, after studying your case, which anaesthetic to use, how long it lasts and whether it is advisable to spend the night at the centre.
Before the date, a blood test is requested and you are told which medication to adjust. Informed consent comes in writing, as Spain's Law 41/2002 requires for a surgical procedure.
What time of year to choose?
If you have some flexibility, choose the time of year that fits your recovery best. In Madrid the summer is hot, and wearing a compression garment day and night in great heat is uncomfortable; at other times of year, rest and loose clothing are easier to manage. It is also worth avoiding dates with long trips, moves, exams or work peaks. There is no obligatory season: it is a practical decision to talk through with the surgeon.
What to bring on the day of the operation?
Bring loose, comfortable clothes that do not have to be pulled up over your hips, shoes that are easy to put on, a bag with your toiletries and the documents you are asked for. If you are staying overnight, a phone charger is useful. Leave jewellery and valuables at home, and say which medication you take. The team will tell you the fasting rules and what to stop taking in the days beforehand.
Getting the house ready and the first week
Set up somewhere comfortable to lie face down or on your side: pillows, a firm cushion for when you have to sit, and loose clothing that does not compress. The first week goes better if you have everything to hand before the operation.
Prepare meals you can eat with one hand and little effort, a bottle with a straw for drinking lying down, your phone or laptop on a stand where you will not have to sit, and a light blanket. Put the medicines you are given and their schedule in writing, and keep a charger near where you will be. If you live with someone, share out who does what; if you live alone, ask for help for the first two or three nights.
Getting home and getting around Madrid with freshly operated buttocks
The first journey after the operation matters more than it seems. If you have spent the night in the clinic, you go home with someone else driving, and the usual way is in the back seat, lying on your side or resting on a firm cushion that takes the pressure off your buttocks. On a long journey, such as that of someone coming from Alcobendas or Móstoles, it is worth stopping and changing position.
Driving depends on how you feel and on whether you take medication that rules it out: it is usual not to drive for the first few days and to ask the surgeon for the go-ahead.
In the following weeks, think about your usual journeys. Public transport, whether standing or seated, is not the same as a car with a cushion, and neither replaces rest in the first days. People with a desk job often agree a period of remote working or flexible hours with their employer. Talking it through with your surgeon before fixing the date avoids surprises.
Questions worth asking about the technique
Note down before you go: who will do the liposuction and who will graft; how much fat is expected to be treated in your case and from which areas; which garment and for how long; where the operation takes place and whether there is an overnight stay; and what the quote includes.
Who will operate on you in Madrid?
The surgeon who operates on you is a registered plastic surgeon at Clínica EGOS, who assesses your case at the consultation.
Before you book a date, we tell you in writing who will operate on you, with their registration number with the medical association, and at which centre, with its health registration number.

Frequently asked questions
How much does buttock augmentation cost in Madrid?
It varies according to the technique, the liposuction areas, the anaesthetic and the overnight stay. After the consultation you receive the quote in writing, itemised.
Where can I book my first assessment in Madrid?
We hold consultations in Chamberí, Retiro, Castellana, Alcobendas and Móstoles; the general phone number works for any of them.
Are buttock lipofilling and BBL the same thing?
Yes. They are two names for the same technique, fat transfer to the buttocks: fat is taken from other areas with liposuction and placed in the gluteal region.
Can I have it done if I am slim?
It depends on the fat you have available. If there is little, the graft gives a limited change; the examination decides.
When will I be able to sit down after buttock augmentation?
For the first few days you lie face down or on your side and, to sit, you use a firm cushion that takes the pressure off the buttocks. The surgeon decides when you can sit normally again.
Do I need to stay overnight?
It depends on the case. The type of anaesthesia, how long the operation takes and whether an overnight stay is needed are decided by the medical team after assessing you.
Can I drive myself home?
No. You go home with someone else driving, usually in the back seat, lying on your side or on a firm cushion. It is usual not to drive for the first few days and to check with the surgeon first.
