What does the procedure involve?

Choosing implant size and type

Beyond volume, there are two main implant shapes. Round implants add more fullness to the upper part of the breast, for a "fuller" effect. He is a member of the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SECPRE) and of the Catalan Society of Plastic Surgery. He has been part of the Clínica EGOS medical team since 2022.

Dr. Lorena Vives Salinas (licence no. 38736) specialises in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, with MIR training at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. She has over 20 years of experience focused particularly on breast surgery, including augmentation, reduction and reconstruction.

Possible risks and complications

Like any surgical procedure, breast augmentation carries risks you should know about before deciding. The most common complication is capsular contracture, which occurs when the tissue surrounding the implant tightens and hardens, potentially causing discomfort or changes in breast shape. Very occasionally an allergic reaction to surgical material or an infection may occur; that is why we administer preventive antibiotics and operate under strict aseptic conditions.

No breast implant has guaranteed lifetime durability: it may rupture or develop contracture over the years. If a rupture occurs, removing the implant is not a medical emergency —it does not pose a risk to your health— but replacement should be scheduled.

Post-operative check-ups: are they done in Girona?
