La Vanguardia: Dr Mora on Aesthetic Tourism and Its Risks

On December 10th, La Vanguardia published a report highlighting a growing issue: the risks of aesthetic tourism in Turkey, a trend fuelled by low prices but now linked to an increase in serious complications among patients returning to Spain.

Our plastic surgeon, Dr Mora, took part in the investigation as an expert, offering a professional perspective grounded in daily clinical practice. His input helped explain why more people are turning to Spanish clinics to fix issues caused by surgery abroad.

The article notes that many “aesthetic packages” include flights, hotels, and surgery without proper medical checks or post-op monitoring. The Catalan Society of Plastic Surgery (SCCPRE) warns of the trivialisation of procedures that require high levels of precision and safety.

Dr Mora, plastic surgeon at Clínica EGOS, was consulted for his medical insight on the issue. His statements reinforced the expert consensus: choosing low cost over safety can lead to serious and often irreversible consequences.

We are proud of Dr Mora for helping to clearly inform the public at a time when cheap offers may lead to risky decisions. Our commitment remains to promote safe, responsible and high-quality surgery. Patient safety must always come first.
