Dr. Ricard Sorio

Graduated in Psychology in 1994 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and obtained his PhD from the same university in 2013 within the Clinical Psychology and Health Program. His doctoral thesis focused on the effectiveness of a therapy and behavior modification program for obesity with and without binge eating disorder, alongside gastric balloon treatment, achieving an excellent Cum Laude grade.
He completed a Master's degree in Behavioral Medicine (UAB) and a Master's in Psychiatry and Medical Psychology (UAB). He also holds a Postgraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Professional Institute of Higher Studies.
In his professional career, he stands out for his research and for having directed various psychology and obesity units, coordinating multidisciplinary treatment teams. He is currently a co-director of doctoral theses at the Department of Nutrition, University of Barcelona.
In the past three years, he has published two books based on his research and clinical experience in obesity: Obesity with and without Binge Eating Disorder: A Multidisciplinary Treatment Approach (2019) and The Weight of Emotions (2022). He has also published important works in prestigious international journals such as Obesity Surgery and Nutrients. He is a member of the Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity (SEEDO).
