Aesthetic surgery in adults: our surgeon, Tiago Gomes, explains on Cuatro

Every year, more than 200,000 people turn to aesthetic surgery with a common goal: to feel better. Thanks to the trust of patients at EGOS, we have been able to analyse the motivations and most requested treatments according to life stage.

The television channel Cuatro contacted us to produce a report and show first-hand what the world of aesthetics looks like today.

In your 20s: the era of body surgery

In your twenties, Dr Tiago Gomes notes that body procedures dominate. The most requested include breast augmentation, gluteoplasty, and treatments to define the silhouette.

Between 30 and 40: restoring the figure

From your thirties, and especially in your forties, priorities change. Combined surgery becomes popular, especially for the chest and abdomen.

Many people aim to recover their pre-pregnancy body and regain self-confidence. Procedures such as abdominoplasty or breast remodelling are the most requested in this stage.

From 50 onwards: the face and rejuvenation

At more advanced ages, the focus shifts to the face. Anti-ageing treatments become the most popular, with particular emphasis on procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).

Here, the goal is more to rejuvenate than to change. During the interview, Dr Tiago explains: the aim is to look better, not different.
