Blefaroplasty

Aesthetic eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty is the procedure used to eliminate the unsightly bags of fat and excess skin from the eyelids in order to rejuvenate the face and eliminate the appearance of tired eyes.

Duration of the intervention

The surgery is carried out using local anesthesia and sedaccion, generally. The duration of this surgical technique may vary depending on the complexity of the intervention, but it is usually around 1 or 2 hours. Usually this procedure does not require hospital admission and a recovery in 2-3 hours is carried out in the clinic prior to discharge.

Description of the technique

The operation starts making incisions in the skin of the eyelids to release and remove the excess skin and tighten the orbicularis oculi. Fat is then extracted in adequate to eliminate palpebral bags. Sometimes this fat repositions on the bony bottom ledge of the orbit to improve the projection of the cheek. Finally, the incisions are closed with fine sutures. Usually heal without problems and the sutures are removed between 4th and 7th day.

Recovery period

Recovery is variable, even if the person recovers its normal life around the 10-12 days after the intervention. We recommend also rest during the first 3 days.
